Canadian Men’s National Team head coach Frank Yallop extended praise today to the succesful Men’s Under-20 Youth team who last week qualified for the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championships in Holland, June 10-July 2.
\u200bUnder head coach Dale Mitchell, the Canadians won all three of their qualifying games to win the group. Canada opened the tournament with a 2-1 win over Mexico and followed up with consecutive 1-0 wins over host Honduras and Jamaica.
\u200bCanada has now qualified for three consecutive World Youth Championships and have not been beaten in their last nine qualifying games.
\u200b“It’s a fantastic achievement by Dale and his players and staff,” said Yallop. “On behalf of myself, the senior squad and the entire CSA, my deepest congratulations to the team. I look forward to watching them in Holland this summer.”
\u200bCanada will host the 2007 FIFA World Youth Championships and will earn an automatic berth.
