The Canadian Soccer Association (Canada Soccer) announces the opening of Volunteer Registration for the upcoming CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament. This event, to be held in Vancouver, BC at the newly renovated BC Place from 19-29 January 2012, will feature the top eight women’s teams from the CONCACAF region, as they attempt to secure one of two spots for the 2012 London Olympics Women’s Football tournament.
With the launch of Volunteer Registration, Canada Soccer is looking for experienced and energetic soccer fans, willing to help with the staging and operation of this exciting event. Positions are available in a variety of areas, including Game Day Operations, Transportation, Accreditation, Hospitality, Medical, Media Services, Youth Programme, Marketing/Promotions and Team Services. Shifts will be available from Sunday 15 January until Monday 30 January, with daily shift options of 7:00 to 15:00 or 14:00 to 22:00 (most days – exact times to be decided).
If you are a passionate soccer fan, an experienced volunteer, and would like to come and support the Canadian Women’s National Team as they look to earn a trip to London 2012, then sign up today. An easy, online application process is available here. Upon your Volunteer Registration, your application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted in December with additional information.
Please note:
- Volunteer applicants for most positions must be at least 16 years old. Please email info@soccercan.ca if you are interested in helping out, but not yet 16 years old.
- Volunteers from across Canada are invited to apply. However, Volunteers are responsible for transportation to Vancouver, as well as their own accommodations during the competition
- Applicants for driving positions in the Transportation Department must submit a current ICBC Drivers Abstract prior to their first shift. Drivers must be at least 25 years old, with no motor vehicle convictions in the past 3 years
- Youth Programme Volunteers will be subject to a CPIC background check prior to their first volunteer shift
- Volunteers will be required to attend an orientation session prior to the tournament commencing
- All volunteers will receive a volunteer package, including official volunteer gear. Volunteers are asked to provide their own black, blue or khaki pants and footwear.
