Isaac Boehmer named Toyota Best Young Canadian Player and MVP

In dramatic finish in front of 12,516 in attendance at BC Place, Vancouver Whitecaps FC top Toronto FC 0:0 (4:2 in penalty kicks) to win their third consecutive TELUS Canadian Championship. With this Voyagers Cup title, the Whitecaps become only the second team in tournament history to successfully complete a three-peat. Toronto FC accomplished three wins in a row between 2016-2018 and won four in a row between 2009-2012.

The win is the Whitecaps’ fourth TELUS Canadian Championship title overall, behind only CF Montréal (five titles) and Toronto FC (eight titles).

Whitecaps goalkeeper, Isaac Boehmer, becomes the first player ever to be named both the Toyota Best Young Canadian Player and MVP in the same TELUS Canadian Championship. It is also only the third time in tournament history where a goalkeeper has won the George Gross Memorial Trophy (MVP).

The leading goal scorer of the 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship was Toronto FC’s Deandre Kerr with five goals.

With the win, the Vancouver Whitecaps also earn a berth to the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
