Ottawa, Ontario \u0096 Ray Clark, Director of Coaching and Player Development, and Men’s Youth (U-20) Team Head Coach, Dale Mitchell will travel with two development teams to Europe for training and international play.
\u200bMitchell’s Youth (U-20) Development team (1985) will depart on Sunday, May 18 and will play two international friendlies against the Czech Republic and Austria during their 12-day training camp before returning on Thursday, May 29.
\u200b\u0093The purpose of this trip will be for us to assess the level of the 1985 age group as we begin to build our future U20 team. Given the quality of our opponents it will be quite a good test for the boys,” said Mitchell.
\u200bClark has invited a squad of Under-16 boys who will depart on Tuesday, May 20 for a training camp designed to provide the players with international experience and evaluate their potential to join future national teams. During this training camp, the team will play two international friendlies against Austria and Slovakia and an exhibition match against an Austrian Academy before returning on Sunday, June 1.
\u200b\u0093As a Development Team, we are taking the same approach with the U/16 boys as we have with previous teams. Our aim is to give players experience playing at the international level and at the same time evaluate their potential for future national teams,\u0094 said Clark. \u0093The squad includes three players that play their soccer with professional clubs in Argentina, Holland and England which should add to the experience within the group. I’m looking forward to working with the boys and see them perform against good European teams.\u0094
\u200bBoth teams will play Austria on Wednesday, May 28 in double header play.
