    "body": "<p>Toronto FC have advanced to the 2020 Canadian Championship Final for the fifth consecutive season after finishing first among three Canadian teams in the first phase of Major League Soccer&rsquo;s revised league schedule. Toronto FC finished with 12 points from six matches, three better than runners up Impact de Montr&eacute;al who were the defending Canadian champions from 2019.</p><p>Toronto FC will face the winner of the 2020 Canadian Premier<br>\u200bLeague&rsquo;s Island Games, which will be decided on Saturday 19 September between<br>\u200bForge FC Hamilton and Halifax&rsquo;s HFX Wanderers FC. The single-match final for<br>\u200bthe North Star Shield will be broadcast on OneSoccer and CBC at 14.00 ET /<br>\u200b11.00 PT, kicking off live from UPEI Field in Charlottetown, Prince Edward<br>\u200bIsland (15.00 local).</p><p>The Canadian Championship is Canada Soccer&rsquo;s highest<br>\u200bdomestic professional soccer competition. This year, 11 professional teams in<br>\u200bthe Canadian Premier League and Major League Soccer will play combined 44<br>\u200bleague matches as qualification to the 2020 Canadian Championship Final. The<br>\u200bdate and location for the 2020 Canadian Championship Final will be announced at<br>\u200ba later time.</p><p>Toronto FC posted four wins across six matches against<br>\u200bImpact de Montreal and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. They started with back-to-back<br>\u200bwins at home against Vancouver followed by an away win in Montreal. After a<br>\u200bhome loss to Montreal and an away loss Vancouver, Toronto FC wrapped up their<br>\u200bsix-match series with an away 2:1 win over Montreal.</p><p>Across the nine Major League Soccer matches from 18 August<br>\u200bto 16 September, 26 different Canadians dressed for the three teams including<br>\u200bgoalscorers Theo Bair, Michael Baldisimo and Lucas Cavallini from Vancouver<br>\u200bWhitecaps FC, Richie Laryea and Jonathan Osorio from Toronto FC, and Samuel<br>\u200bPiette from Impact de Montr&eacute;al.</p><p>Since 2008, Canada Soccer&rsquo;s Canadian Championship has<br>\u200bfeatured 14 different Canadian teams across more than 100 matches. To date,<br>\u200bToronto FC have won the competition seven times, the Impact de Montr&eacute;al four<br>\u200btimes, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC once. From the Canadian Championship, the<br>\u200bCanadian winner qualifies for Concacaf Champions League, which plays into the<br>\u200bFIFA Club World Cup. From the list of Canadian champions, both Montr&eacute;al<br>\u200b(2014-15) and Toronto (2018) have reached the Concacaf Champions League Grand<br>\u200bFinal.</p><p><strong>FINAL STANDINGS:</strong><br>\u200b1.
