Footballers Carmelo Barbieri and Frank Riga will be honoured by the Toronto Azzurri Soccer Club Wall of Fame as part of the 2023 Induction Gala. The two former players will be honoured alongside builders Alberto DiGiovanni and Pasquale Fioccola, coach Peter Pinizzotto, photographer Tony Pavia, and special recognition selection Ralph Ciccia and Joe Mancuso.

The group will be honoured at the Toronto Azzurri SC Wall of Fame’s 4thAnnual Induction Gala on Friday 14 April 2023 at the Fontana Primavera Event Centre. All proceeds from the event will go to the Toronto Azzurri Youth Sport Village.

Both Barbieri and Riga played in the old National League Ontario in the 1970s. Barbieri also represented Canada at the first two Concacaf youth tournaments in 1973 and 1974. In between those two tournaments, Barbieri made his international debut for the Men’s National Team in an away match against Bermuda on 12 April 1974.

Barbieri is the latest National Teams player honoured by the Toronto Azzurri SC Wall of Fame. He joins previously-recognised honoured members Carmine Marcantonio (2018 Player) and Paul Stalteri (2019 Player) as well Orazio De Ciantis (2018 Coach).
