Canada falls 2:3 to Japan at the Tournoi international de France. Isabelle Morneau becomes the sixth player to make her 50th appearance for Canada. Brittany Timko, 16, makes her debut for Canada.

Canada qualifies for the 2008 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament for the first time in Association history. Canada qualifies with a 1:0 victory over Mexico in the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifier in Juarez, MEX. Melissa Tancredi scores the lone goal in the 24th minute. Diana Matheson becomes the ninth player to make her 75th appearance for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 11 April 1993
Canada wins 2:0 over El Salvador in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC. The match is played in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,968 (”with 2,000 more turned away”). Alex Bunbury and John Catliff score goals in the first half. Dale Mitchell becomes the third player to make his 50th appearance for Canada.

Isabelle Morneau makes her debut for Canada. Canada falls 0:1 to France at the Tournoi de Paris.

Canada draws 0:0 with Bermuda in an away Men’s International Friendly in Hamilton, Bermuda. Victor Kodelja and Bruce Wilson make their debuts for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 12 April 2008
Canada is outscored 5-6 by USA on kicks from the penalty mark in the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifier championship final. The match had ended in a 1:1 draw, with Melissa Tancredi scoring the equaliser in the 116th minute. Candace Chapman becomes the 16th player to make her 50th appearance for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 13 April 1985
Canada wins its first FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match played in Victoria, BC. Igor Vrablic and Mike Sweeney score for Canada in the 2:0 victory over Haiti. Sweeney scores both an assist and a goal, with the goal his first (and only) goal at the international “A” level.

Canada draws 0:0 with Jamaica in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, BC. Canada posts its second consecutive clean sheet, but also fails to score for the fourth consecutive match.

Canada wins 3:0 over Cuba in an Olympic Qualification match at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria, BC. Mike Sweeney (two) and Gerry Gray score for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 15 April 1996
Canada wins its opening match at the 1996 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship in Saltillo, Mexico – a 1:0 victory over group opponent Trinidad and Tobago. Canada’s Eric Muñoz scores the lone goal. Canada will go on to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Malaysia 1997 just four days later.
