Off to a quick start and already up 1-0, Canada loses Tomasz Radzinski to an injury after he is pushed to the ground and, after sliding on the wet grass, has his finger cut on the underside of the end boards. Ali Gerba almost makes it 2-0 but hits the post in the 45th minute, then Ramon Nuñez scores two goals in the second half. Canada hopes to mount a comeback, but is reduced to 10 men after Patrice Bernier is cautioned twice inside three minutes (71st and 73rd minutes). On a side note from the same match, Richard Hastings becomes the 19th player to make his 50th appearance for Canada.
