Canada wins 2:1 over Brazil in a Men’s U-20 International Friendly match at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, AB. Birthday boy David Edgar scores the opening goal in the first half while Will Johnson scores the winner in the second half.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 14 May 1992
Needing but a draw to qualify, Canada falls 1:2 to USA and fails to qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Australia 1993. As a result, Canada finishes third at the 1992 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship in Burnaby, BC. Canada led 1-0 before USA scored two goals in the second half, including the winner after the team was reduced to 10 men. USA’s Matt McKeon scores the winning goal on a free kick in the 82nd minute.

Canada wins 3:1 over Switzerland in an away Men’s International Friendly match in St. Gallen. Tomasz Radzinski (two) and Paul Stalteri score for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 18 May 1998
Canada wins 1:0 over FYR Macedonia in a Men’s International Friendly match in Toronto. Niall Thompson scores the lone goal in the match. Starter Richard Hastings as well as substitutes Dwayne De Rosario and Ante Jazic make their debuts for Canada.

Canada U-23 falls 0:1 to Mexico in the CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying championship final. Canada finishes second and advances to a playoff with Australia.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 19 May 2003
Canada wins 4:0 over England in a Women’s International Friendly match at the SoccerPlexe in Lachine, QC. Andrea Neil and Kara Lang each score a pair of goals. Neil becomes the second player to make her 75th appearance for Canada.
