Bernier, who spent the season with FC Kaiserslautern in Deutschland (Germany), was named the 2007 award winner ahead of finalists Ali Gerba and Andr&eacute; Hainault.<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200bBernier was one of a number of award winners on the night. Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault (male) and Rhian Wilkinson (female) were named senior players of excellence while Sean Rosa (male) and Sarah Boucher (female) were named youth players of excellence.<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200bAlong with his professional duties, Bernier represented Canada&rsquo;s senior team on eight occasions in 2007. He helped Canada reach the CONCACAF Gold Cup semi-final before losing to the United States.<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200bBeaulieu-Bourgault played for FC St. Pauli in Deutschland and represented Canada&rsquo;s youth team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007. He was one of six ambassadors on the road to Canada 2007. Wilkinson, meanwhile, spent the year with Canada&rsquo;s senior women&rsquo;s team. She won a bronze medal at the XV Pan American Games Rio 2007 and represented her country at the FIFA Women&rsquo;s World Cup China 2007.<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200bRosa played for the &Eacute;lite Montr&eacute;al-Concordia U-18 team and even took part in a Canadian U-20 camp early in the year. Boucher, meanwhile, won a gold medal with Qu&eacute;bec at the 2007 BMO National Championships U-16 All-Star Selects in July and then a bronze medal with the Dynamo de Qu&eacute;bec at the 2007 BMO National Championships U-18 Girls Club Championship in Fredericton, NB (Sony Cup) in October. She also took part in three Canadian U-17 camps.<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200b<br>\u200bCarol Anne Ch&eacute;nard of Montr&eacute;al was named the FSQ&rsquo;s 2007 referee of excellence. Matthew Alfonzetti (male) and Amelia Pietrangelo (female), meanwhile, were named elite youth players of the year. Alfonzetti won a gold medal with Qu&eacute;bec at the 2007 BMO National Championships U-14 Boys All-Star Selects while Pietrangelo won a bronze medal with Qu&eacute;bec at the 2007 BMO National Championships U-14 Girls All-Star Selects.
