The final placement game will be played on March 20.

Christine Latham, will make her first appearance for Canada since 2001 after missing out last year due to school commitments. Latham was recently signed as a “Discovery Player” by San Diego of WUSA. Candace Chapman is back on the roster following a fall injury, while Diana Matheson, an Ontario National Training Centre product, earns her first call up with the team.

Veterans Kristina Kiss and Randee Hermus traveled to Norway last month for a trial with women’s premier side Floya. The two are close to signing contracts with the club which will see them play in Norway until mid July.

“Following our 10-day preparation camp in Florida, the team is now ready to take on some of the powerhouses in the world,” said Canadian Head Coach Even Pellerud. “After being placed with the mediocre teams before, Canada will now face USA, Sweden and Norway. The group is a strong one, but at this stage we are ready to play anyone. Our ambition is not just to play against these nations, but to beat them.”

Despite the fact that we are heading into our first game in four months, while Norway and USA play their sixth game since mid-January, I have the feeling that my players have the right spirit and the confidence to challenge them. As before we have approached these games against big countries with a defensive approach, we are now determined to attack more and put pressure on our opponents.”

This is the fourth consecutive year Canada has competed in the prestigious Algarve Cup.

Games

Friday, March 14ttCanada vs USAt2:00 p.m.tOlhao

Sunday, March 16ttCanada vs Swedent2:00 p.m.tFerreiras

Tuesday, March 18ttCanada vs Norwayt2:00 p.m.tVila RS Antonio

Thursday, March 20ttPlacement GametTBAttTBA

Group A

Canada

USA

Sweden

Norway

Group B

China

Denmark

France

Finland

Group C

Greece

Wales

Portugal

Republic of Ireland

Algarve Cup Rostertttt

NametPos.tHometowntD.O.B.tClub

Sasha AndrewstDtEdmonton, ABt14/2/83tSouthern Methodist University

Breanna Boyd tDtEdmonton, ABt10/6/81tU. of Nebraska/Carolina Courage

Silvana BurtinitFtWilliams Lake, BCt5/10/69tVancouver Whitecaps

Candace ChapmantMtAjax, ONt2/4/83tUniversity of Notre Damet

Randee HermustMtLangley, BCt14/11/79tFloya (Norwegian Premier)

Charmaine Hooper tFtOttawa, ONt15/1/68tAtlanta Beat

Kristina KisstMtOttawa, ONt13/2/81tFloya (Norwegian Premier)

Kara LangtDtOakville, ONt22/10/86tVancouver Whitecaps

Christine Latham tFtCalgary, ABt15/9/81tSan Diego Spirit

Karina LeBlanc tGKtMaple Ridge, BCt30/3/80tBoston Breakers

Diana MathesontMtOakville, ONt6/4/84tNational Training Centre – Ontario

Erin McLeodtGKtCalgary, ABt26/2/83tSouthern Methodist University

Isabelle Morneau tDtGreenfield Park, QCt18/4/76tOttawa Fury

Carmelina MoscatotMtMississauga, ONt2/5/84tPenn State University

Andrea Neil tMtVancouver, BCt26/10/71tVancouver Whitecaps

Sharolta NonentDtVancouver, BCt30/12/77tAtlanta Beat

Christine SinclairtFtBurnaby, BCt12/6/83tVancouver Whitecaps/U. of Portland

Brittany TimkotMtCoquitlam, BCt5/9/85tVancouver Whitecaps

Staff:

Adrian Newman, Head of Delegation

Even Pellerud, Head Coach

Ian Bridge, Assistant Coachttt

Shel Brodsgaard, Goalkeeper Coach tt

Erin Perry, Athletic Therapist

Dr. Cathy Campbell, Team Doctor

Cathy Ayoub, Manager

Bob Birarda-Observer/Scout

Jamie Fales- Equipment Manager

",
