“I’m very happy to have the opportunity to play for Sporting CP,” said Smith. “I’m currently at the World Cup representing Canada, but I can’t wait to be in Portugal wearing the Sporting CP jersey.”

Before this summer’s FIFA World Cup, Smith helped Canada qualify for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2024 with a third-place finish at the 2023 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship. During that tournament, she became Canada’s second-best international youth goalscorer (24 goals) behind only Christine Sinclair (27).

Smith was Canada Soccer’s Young Player of the Year in 2019, the same season she became the Women’s National Team’s youngest debutant at age 15. Before turning pro, Smith has played college soccer at Penn State University and club soccer most recently at North Toronto SC. She played her youth football at Whitby Iroquois SC.
