Coach Carolina Morace had Canada’s women’s national team for a second full day of training today, once again in Vaughan at the Vaughan Grove Sports Centre. Morace put her team through two training sessions as the team continued its preparations for Monday’s international friendly match against the world’s number-one ranked USA.

Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, plays USA this Monday 25 May at BMO Field in Toronto. The match, presented by Winners, kicks off at 19.00. Tickets to the match are available via Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.ca / 416.872.5000).

Coach Morace has had the Canadian team for all but three short month. She was named Canada’s women’s national head coach on 5 February – her birthday – and immediately held camp in Los Angeles, CA. She then traveled with the team to Italy and Cyprus, taking part in the 2009 Cyprus Women’s Cup along the way.

After the players returned to their clubs and some began professional careers in the new Women’s Professional Soccer league, coach Morace regrouped with the Canadians in Toronto this week. The team trained Wednesday in Toronto and Thursday/Friday in Vaughan.

To date, her main concentration has been to get the girls to understand her methodology. The team has played a similar style over the last number of years, so Morace brings a fresh approach to the Canadian team.

After posting two wins, a draw and a loss at the Cyprus Women’s Cup (Canada finished second), Morace’s next test is USA this Monday night. The 25 May match will mark Morace’s home debut with the Canadian team.
