Ottawa, Ontario – CONCACAF has announced the respective final round qualifying fixtures for the Men’s Under-17 and Under-20 competitions following draws held at the offices of the CONCACAF General Secretariat in New York City.
Under-17 Qualifying
Canada and Costa Rica will each host a group for the final stage of CONCACAF U-17 qualification, where three teams will advance to the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Peru.
The group winners will qualify directly to the FIFA U-17 World Championships, while the two group runners-up will compete in a home-and-away playoff, with the winner earning the final CONCACAF berth to the World Championships.
Canada will host Group B from May 19-23, 2005 at Jeux Canada Games Stadium in St. John, New Brunswick. Canada will be joined by Mexico, CFU Series 2 Winner, UNCAF Series 2 Winner (Honduras/Belize/Panama).
Costa Rica will host Group A from April 12-16, 2005, and will be joined by the USA, CFU Series 1 Winner and the UNCAF Series 1 Winner (Guatemala/Nicaragua/El Salvador).
Under-20 Qualifying
Honduras and the USA have been selected as the host nations for the respective qualifying groups for the U-20 competition that will lead four CONCACAF places into the 2005 FIFA World Youth (U-20) Championships in the Netherlands. The top two finishers from each group qualifying to the World Championships.
Canada will play in Group B from January 26-30, 2005 with host Honduras, Mexico and CFU Series 2 Winner. In Group A, USA will be joined by two nations from the Central American Zone (UNCAF) along with the Caribbean Zone (CFU) Series 1 Winner from January 12-16, 2005.
