Kiss named top soccer athlete at Ottawa Sports Awards

In 2008, the 27-year old Kiss played six games for the national team, three of which came as a starter. She scored one goal, the sixth goal in an 8:0 victory over Singapore. Earlier in the year, she helped Canada qualify for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament for the first time in Association history. In August, she was name an alternate to the Olympic team.

Ms. Kiss has spent seven years with the national team since 2000. She has made 75 appearances for the national team, 11st most in Association history. She has also scored eight goals. She has taken part in two FIFA Women’s World Cups (2003 and 2007) and two Pan American Games (2003 silver and 2007 bronze). She is also a Jubilee Trophy winner, having won the senior national championship in 1998 with Nepean United.

In recent years, the Ottawa soccer Athlete of the Year has been Alysha Bonnick (2007), Eilish McConville (2006), Rhian Wilkinson (2005), Laura Harper (2004) and Janson Blake (2003).
