Jenna Hellstrom, who has played in both international football and at the overseas professional club level, has announced her retirement from football as an active player on Monday 27 February 2023. A Svenska Cupen winner with FC Rosengård (Swedish Cup, 2017), Hellstrom represented Canada from 2023 to 2018 and was most notably a part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 squad.
Hellstrom first made her debut in the Canadian youth program in 2010 at only 15 years old and she was 22 years old when she was first called up to the Women’s National Team in 2017. She made her first debut in March 2018 in a 3:0 win against Korea Republic in Lagos, Portugal. Hellstrom has had 1 start, and 1 assist in a total of 6 career international “A” matches.
Hellstrom’s professional club career took her from Sweden to USA, back to Sweden, and ended in France. In 2017, she first played for FC Rosengård in Damallsvenskan, the highest division of women’s football in Sweden. While continuing to compete in the same league, Hellstrom made a move to both Djurgården, Växjö DFF and KIF Örebro DFF in 2019. In 2022, Hellstrom moved closer to home to play for the Washington Spirit in the NWSL. She then returned to KIF Örebro DFF for a total of 4 years, scoring 8 goals. She concluded her career playing D1 Féminine for Dijon FCO.
After 23 years of playing the game, Jenna will now start a new chapter in her life.
