Fletcher appointed for pivotal World Cup Qualifier

Canadian FIFA List Assistant Referee Joe Fletcher has been named to the officiating crew for the pivotal inter-confederation playoff match between New Zealand and Peru on November 11 in Wellington, NZ. The winner will qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.

Fletcher has a highly decorated career that includes appointment to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. He was first appointed to the FIFA list in 2007, was a member of the officials crew for the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada and, more recently, was an assistant referee for the MLS Cup 2016 in Toronto, ON.

Canada Soccer is responsible for the development and training of match officials for amateur and professional competitions in Canada. In partnership with our Provincial and Territorial Associations and sanctioned professional leagues, Canada Soccer provides development and training opportunities to advance to the national list of referees and nominations to the FIFA list
