Blatter, passed this decision at its meeting today, in compliance with a unanimous recommendation from the Sports Medical Committee of football&rsquo;s world governing body (chairman: Dr Michel D&rsquo;Hooghe, Belgium). The FIFA Sports Medical Committee had advised against holding the world championship in China after consulting experts at the World Health Organisation (WHO) and specialists in epidemiology and travel medicine in universities throughout Europe.<br>\u200bTo date, the USA and Australia have expressed interest in staging the competition. The FIFA administration will be clarifying the situation over the next few weeks, especially with regard to the timing of the championship. The final competition should, ideally, coincide with the timing of that originally planned for China. Either the FIFA Emergency or Executive Committee will pass the final decision.<br>\u200bAt the same time the Executive Committee announced that the 2007 Women&rsquo;s World Cup would be awarded to China.</p><div class=\"release-content-contact\" id=\"contact-f265e51d-517e-4e20-affc-724f2f18eafc\">\n \n <div class=\"release-content-contact__details\">\n <strong class=\"release-content-contact__name\">Paulo Senra</strong>\n <em class=\"release-content-contact__description\">Chief Communications &amp; Content Officer | Chef des communications et du contenu, Canada Soccer</em>\n <ul class=\"release-content-contact__details-list\"><li class=\"release-content-contact__details-list-item\"><a href=\"mailto:psenra@canadasoccer.com\" class=\"release-content-contact__details-list-item-link\" title=\"psenra@canadasoccer.com\"><svg class=\"icon icon-paper-plane release-content-contact__details-list-item-icon\">\n <use xlink:href=\"#icon-paper-plane\"></use>\n </svg>psenra@canadasoccer.com</a></li>\n<li class=\"release-content-contact__details-list-item\"><a href=\"tel:(416)&nbsp;882-7919\" class=\"release-content-contact__details-list-item-link\" title=\"(416)&nbsp;882-7919\"><svg class=\"icon icon-mobile release-content-contact__details-list-item-icon\">\n <use xlink:href=\"#icon-mobile\"></use>\n </svg>(416)&nbsp;882-7919</a></li></ul>\n </div>\n</div>",
