Stephen Eustáquio and Adriana Leon were named Canada Soccer’s Players of the Month for September 2022. Midfielder Eustáquio was the Men’s National Team’s top player across a pair of September matches against Qatar and Uruguay while forward Leon was the Women’s National Team’s top player across a pair of September away matches against Australia. Both National Teams are currently preparing for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™.

Eustáquio featured in Canada’s two international matches in Europe against FIFA World Cup™ opponents, both a 2:0 win over Qatar in Vienna, Austria and an 0:2 loss to Uruguay in Bratislava, Slovakia. He earned Gatorade Performance of the Match honours in the second match against Uruguay. With his club FC Porto in Portugal, he had a goal and three assists in four league matches and two UEFA Champions League matches.

Leon, meanwhile, scored Canada’s three goals against Australia, both a 1:0 win in Brisbane and a come-from-behind 2:1 win in Sydney. She earned Gatorade Performance of the Match honours in both wins. At the club level in the FA Women’s Super League, she made her first two appearances with Manchester United FC in September after a summer transfer.

Looking ahead to October, Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team will face Argentina on Thursday 6 October and Morocco on Monday 10 October.
