Canadian midfielder Dwayne De Rosario has been named to the annual Major League Soccer Best XI. This marks the fourth time that De Rosario has been named to the MLS Best XI, albeit the first time as a member of Toronto FC. De Rosario is the first player to be named to the MLS Best XI with three different teams (San Jose Earthquake, Houston Dynamo and Toronto FC).

De Rosario is also the first Toronto FC player to be named to the MLS Best XI. In his first season with his hometown club, De Rosario was also named Toronto FC Most Valuable Player and Golden Boot award winner.

Along with De Rosario, the MLS Best XI featured five other returning all-stars: goalkeeper Zach Thornton of Chivas USA, defender Chad Marshall of Columbus Crew, midfielder Landon Donovan of Los Angeles Galaxy, midfielder Shalrie Joseph of New England Revolution, and forward Jeff Cunningham of FC Dallas. Recognized for the first time are defender Geoff Cameron of Houston Dynamo, defender Wilman Conde of Chicago Fire, midfielder Stuart Holden of Houston Dynamo, midfielder Freddie Ljungberg of Seattle Sounders FC and forward Conor Casey of Colorado Rapids.

De Rosario of Scarborough, ON is one of two Canadians ever recognized on the MLS Best XI (along with two-time MLS Best XI goalkeeper Pat Onstad). In 2009, De Rosario scored 11 goals and six assists for Toronto FC.
