Cyle Larin and Vanessa Gilles were named Canada Soccer’s Players of the Month for March 2023. Centre-Forward Larin scored his 27th career “A” international goal for Canada at a Concacaf Nations League match in Toronto while Gilles helped Olympique Lyonnais advance to the Coupe de France Féminine Finals.

Larin helped Canada secure two Concacaf Nations League wins in March, making them advance to the Finals and qualify for the Gold Cup. In the two-match series, he played 126 minutes and scored three goals. Larin’s back-to-back goals in the 11th minute were the fastest two goals Canada has ever scored against Honduras. The Centre-Forward now has a total of 27 career “A” international goals for Canada. For his club, Larin played in all three of Real Valladolid’s March Laliga matches scoring four goals.

Gilles, meanwhile, played every minute in all competitions of Olympique Lyonnais’ March matches. This past month, Olympique Lyonnais won all of their matches in league competition which has them sitting top of the league standings. Gilles assisted two goals for her club, most notably in the 8th minute of the Semi-Finals match in the Coupe de France Féminine. Olympique Lyonnais will play Paris Saint-Germain
in the Finals on May 4th.

Looking ahead to April, Canada Soccer Women’s National Team will be travelling to Le Mans, France to play France on 11 April and will debut their new FIFA World Cup kit. Canada Soccer Men’s National Team will play their next match against Panama on June 15th in the Concacaf Nations League Semi-Finals.
