Second-place Vancouver (1-0-1, 3 points), will be looking to build on its 2:0 victory last week over Montréal, the first every victory for the club at Montréal’s Stade Saputo. Montréal meanwhile will be eager to rebound from the loss to Vancouver, a match in which they missed a number of scoring chances, including three chances that hit the crossbar.

With a victory Vancouver would set up a massive clash with first-place Toronto FC (2-0-0, 6 points), next Tuesday, 2 June at Swangard. Last-place Montréal (0-0-2, 0 points), the 2008 champions, desperately need all three points Wednesday night in Vancouver to maintain their hopes of repeating in 2009.

Fans across the country will be able to follow the match in both English and French. The match will broadcast live coast-to-coast in English on Sportsnet starting at 19.30 PT (22.30 ET). Sportsnet’s Gerry Dobson and Craig Forrest will have the call. Radio-Canada will handle the French language broadcast on tape-delay at 23.00 ET. Radio-Canada will simultaneously webcast the match at www.Radio-Canada.ca/sports. Philippe Germain and Guillaume Dumas will call the match for Radio-Canada.

Both clubs will be without key defenders due to suspension for accumulating two yellow cards. Vancouver will be missing Wesley Charles while Montréal will have to do without the services of Nevio Pizzolitto.

Neither club played a United Soccer Leagues First Division match over weekend, meaning both teams should be fresh for Wednesday night’s showdown.

The 2009 Nutrilite Canadian Championship runs 6 May to 18 June in Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver.
