OTTAWA (ONTARIO) – Canadian fans hoping to follow the men’s national team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup can now purchase tickets to Canada’s opening round matches in Miami, FL. Canada will face Costa Rica on 6 June, Guadeloupe on 9 June, and Haiti on 11 June. All three games will be played at the Orange Bowl in Miami.

Canada recently won their first international match of the year, a 3:0 victory over Bermuda in Hamilton, Bermuda. Atiba Hutchinson, Tomasz Radzinski and Paul Stalteri scored for Canada while Lars Hirschfeld picked up the shutout. In March 2007 (before their 25 March friendly against Bermuda), Canada was the 13th-ranked CONCACAF country in the FIFA World Rankings.

From the tournament’s 16-year history (eight finals), Canada were Gold Cup champions in 2000. The 2007 tournament will feature the biggest prize pool ever after CONCACAF announced that prizes more than doubled for all winners and qualifiers in the 12-team tournament. 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup tickets (single tickets and ticket packages) can be purchased by calling 212.203.0678.
