Cochrane Named CSA Director of Communications

Ottawa, Ontario – The Canadian Soccer Association today announced the hiring of its new Director of Communications. Earl Cochrane, currently the National Teams Administrative Manager, will take over the CSA Communications Department as of September 1st, 2005. The search for Cochrane’s replacement will commence immediately.
​Cochrane, 36, has been the National Teams Administrative Manager for five years. During his tenure with the National Teams program, the Toronto native managed all of Canada’s Youth teams (male and female) as well as the Olympic, Pan-American, and Francophone Games teams.
​In addition to his managerial duties, Cochrane also acted as the Press Officer during the FIFA World Championships in Argentina 2001, Edmonton 2002, UAE 2003, Thailand 2004, and has handled the media responsibilities for all of the U17 and U20 CONCACAF Qualifiers since 2001. Most recently, he served as the Press Officer for the Men’s National Team during the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
​Prior to joining the CSA in early 2001, Cochrane spent two seasons in the Communications Department of DC United in Major League Soccer (MLS), handling all media matters pertaining to the club while writing and editing all printed material involving DC United and its partners.
​“I am extremely delighted to be taking over the Communications Department,” stated Cochrane. “My experiences within the National Teams program were invaluable but when the position opened, I knew that it was something I wanted to be involved in. When I left DC United in 2001 I always knew that I wanted, at some point, to return to communications so to be presented with this opportunity is energizing and I am truly excited about this new chapter in my career with the CSA.”
​Former Director of Communications, Morgan Quarry, will now concentrate solely on his duties as the Men’s Senior National Team Manager while Assistant Director of Communications/Web Administrator, Richard Ivan, will remain in his current position and will be the main media contact during the transition month of August.
