Cloé Lacasse lifted her third Taça da Liga Feminina Cup with club Benfica at Estádio Municipal de Aveiro. The Canadian striker won the Portuguese domestic following a 3:1 win against Braga on Saturday 1 April. This marks the third time Benfica have been crowned champions since it was first founded in 2020.

Benfica’s women’s program was founded in 2015 and has since won five different competitions with a total of 10 trophies, including the Campeonato Nacional three times (2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23); the Campeonato Nacional II Divisão once (2018-19); the Taça de Portugal once (2018-19); the Supertaça de Portugal twice (2019, 2022); and the Taça da Liga three times (2019-20, 2020-21, 2022-23).

Since joining Benfica in 2019, Lacasse has finished top league goal scorer for four consecutive years, having reached an important milestone of 100 goals scored for her club in April 2023. Men’s national team striker Stephen Eustáquio lifted the same cup in the Men’s competition when both he and Lacasse were named Canada Soccer’s Players of the Month in January 2023. Benfica currently sits at the top of Portugal’s Campeonato Nacional Feminino league standings.

Lacasse, from Sudbury, Ontario has made 19 international “A” appearances for Canada Soccer’s women’s National Team. She was 18 years old when she made her debut in the Canadian youth program and 28 years old when she made her debut for the senior team on 27 November 2021. She won a silver medal with Canada at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Championship.
