Forward Cloé Lacasse has joined Arsenal FC in England’s FA Women’s Super League for their 2023-24. Lacasse joined the London-based club after spending four seasons with SL Benfica in Portugal where she was the league’s top goalscorer for four consecutive seasons. She signed a permanent deal with Arsenal FC and will join the club following the FIFA World Cup this summer.

“I’m really pleased that we have signed Cloé to strengthen our forward line here at Arsenal,” said Jonas Eidevall, Head Coach at Arsenal FC. “Cloé is a proven goalscorer and has shown her quality over a number of seasons in two European leagues as well as the Champions League. She will add a different dimension to our attacking game and I’m looking forward to working with her.”

“Cloé is a player we have been monitoring for some time so we’re delighted to have completed this signing,” said Clare Wheatley, Arsenal FC’s Head of Women’s Football. “Cloé’s record is very impressive and we believe she has the right qualities to slot straight into our playing style here at Arsenal. I’m sure our supporters will be excited to see Cloé in the red and white.”

Since turning pro, Lacasse has played for Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja in Iceland and SL Benfica in Portugal. In 2022-23, she won the league’s Best Player award and scored her 100th career goal at Benfica. Since 2021, she has made 19 international “A” appearances for Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team. She was part of the squad that won a silver medal at the 2022 Concacaf W Championship in Mexico which qualified Canada for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™.

“I’m super excited and enthusiastic to get started here,” said Lacasse. “I feel ready mentally and physically to be able to contribute here and win titles and I feel that this club has everything it takes to compete for the highest honours. I want to go to the next level and score goals here for Arsenal.”

Lacasse has joined fellow Canadian Sabrina D’Angelo at Arsenal FC. This past 2022-23 season, Arsenal FC finished third in the FA Women’s Super League and lifted their sixth FA League Cup title since 2011.
