Canadian referees Carol-Anne Chénard and Myriam Marcotte have been appointed as Match Officials to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup India 2022. The two Canadian officials are amongst the 61 women referees, assistant referees, support referees and video match officials appointed to the biennial event that runs 11 to 30 October in Bhubaneswa, Goa and Navi Mumbai.

Marcotte is one of 14 Referees appointed to take charge of matches at India 2022. This marks Marcotte’s first appointment to a FIFA youth tournament. She has previously been appointed as a Referee to the Concacaf Women’s Championship, Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament, Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship and Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship.

Chénard is one of 16 Video Match Officials appointed to India 2022, the first FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to feature VAR technology. Chénard, who took part in her first FIFA youth tournament back in 2008, most recently served as a Video Assistant Referee at the 2022 Concacaf Women’s Championship.

This marks the first FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup since the pandemic canceled the 2020 edition. Match officials appointed to India 2022 are also candidates for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023.
