Carreiro, Buchanan named 2013 Canadian U-20 Players of the Year

Canadian teenagers Dylan Carreiro and Kadeisha Buchanan have been named Canadian U-20 Players of the Year for the 2013 soccer season. The two stars were honoured in a vote shared by national-team coaches (50%) and Canadian clubs and coaches (50%).

Carreiro of Queens Park Rangers has been a member of Canada’s national youth program since 2010. This past year, he represented Canada at the at the CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship and also earned his first call up to the national “A” squad.

Buchanan of West Virginia University has been a member of Canada’s national youth program since 2010, although she has been a regular with the national “A” squad throughout the 2013 season. She earned Canada’s player-of-the-match honours in five international matches in 2013.

In the coming days, Canada Soccer will announce the 2013 BMO Canadian Players of the Year, with the two co-winners to be announced on Thursday (male) and Friday (female).
