CANWNT Roster Announced Ahead of Pinatar Cup

Canada Soccer has announced the selection of 26 players who will represent Canada in the upcoming FIFA international window, as Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team prepares to compete at the Pinatar Cup 2025. Canada will face China PR, Mexico, and Taipei chinois in a series of international friendly matches at the Pinatar Arena in Murcia, Spain. 

This tournament marks the official start of Canada’s 2025 season and serves as the first opportunity for the team to come together under newly appointed Head Coach Casey Stoney. With a blend of experience and emerging talent, Stoney’s inaugural squad reflects commitment to continuity while providing opportunities for fresh faces to make their mark on the international stage.

Canada will first face China PR on Wednesday, 19 February at 19:00 local (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT), Mexico on Saturday, 22 February at 19:00 local (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT), and Chinese Taipei on Tuesday, 25 February at 19:00 local (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT). 

All three of Canada’s matches will air live on OneSoccer, available on the fuboTV Canada platform, as a linear channel on Telus’s Optik TV (Channel 980), as well as online at OneSoccer.ca and through the OneSoccer app. Fans will find extended coverage across Canada Soccer’s digital channels on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube featuring the hashtag #CANWNT. ​ 

Canada and China PR share a long-standing history, having faced each other 27 times since 1988. Their most recent meeting resulted in a 1-0 victory for Canada ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Canada holds a record of 8 wins, 5 draws, and 14 losses against China PR but has dominated recent encounters, winning the last seven matchups between the two nations. 

Canada and Mexico have developed a strong rivalry within Concacaf, regularly meeting in key regional competitions. Canada holds the advantage with 23 wins, 4 draws, and just 2 losses in their 29 previous encounters. The teams last met in June 2024 during a two-match Summer Send-Off Series ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where Canada secured a 2-0 victory in Montréal before drawing 1-1 in Toronto. 

Canada and Taipei chinois have met just once in history, with their lone encounter dating back to December 1987, where Canada fell 2-0. This upcoming match presents a great opportunity for Canada to face a different playing style.

Canada’s three goalkeepers for the window are Sabrina D’Angelo from Aston Villa WFC, Lysianne Proulx from Juventus FC, and Kailen Sheridan from San Diego Wave FC. 

The defenders selected are Gabrielle Carle from Washington Spirit, Vanessa Gilles from FCF Olympique Lyonnais, Ashley Lawrence from Chelsea FC, Ella Ottey from University of Wisconsin-Madison, Megan Reid from Angel City FC, Jayde Riviere from Manchester United FC, Bianca St-Georges from North Carolina Courage, and Shelina Zadorsky from West Ham United FC. Jade Rose from Harvard University, continuing her rehabilitation, joins the group as a return-to-play player and will be unavailable for playing time during this window. 

Joining the midfield are Marie-Yasmine Alidou from SL Benfica, Simi Awujo from Manchester United FC, Samantha Chang from Vancouver Rise, Jessie Fleming from Portland Thorns FC, Julia Grosso from Chicago Red Stars, and Emma Regan from AFC Toronto. 

Rounding out the squad are forwards Janine Beckie from Racing Louisville FC, Jordyn Huitema from Seattle Reign FC, Clarissa Larisey from Crystal Palace, Adriana Leon from Aston Villa WFC, Nichelle Prince from Kansas City Current, Nyah Rose from Southern Methodist University, Olivia Smith from Liverpool FC, and Evelyne Viens from AS Roma. 

Kadeisha Buchanan from Chelsea FC, Sydney Collins from NC Courage, Cloé Lacasse from Utah Royals FC, Quinn from Vancouver Rise, and Deanne Rose from Leicester City WFC were all unavailable for selection due to injury. ​ ​
