CANWFUTSAL drawn into Group B at inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025™
Canada to compete in Group B at first-ever FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup™

Canada Soccer’s Women’s Futsal National Team (CANWFUTSAL) has been drawn into Group B alongside Spain, Thailand, and Colombia for the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025™, which will take place from 21 November to 7 December in Pasig City, Metropolitan Manila.
The Official Draw was conducted at the BGC Arts Center in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, hosted by Mara Aquino and FIFA Head of Olympics, Futsal and Beach Soccer, Kasra Haghighi. Futsal legend Falcao, Croatia coach Tihana Nemcic, Philippines international Hali Long, and volleyball player Vanie Gandler served as draw assistants.
“When you arrive at a World Cup, you know you are going to face the best teams in the world. We’ve been drawn against three of the world’s top eight nations, including tournament favourites Spain. We want to take advantage of every moment to continue progressing as a futsal nation.”
- Alexandre Da Rocha, Women’s Futsal National Team Head Coach
Group A will feature hosts Philippines alongside Poland, Morocco, and Argentina. Group C includes Portugal, Tanzania, Japan, and New Zealand, while Group D brings together Brazil, IR Iran, Italy, and Panama.
Canada earned their place at the first-ever FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup by winning the inaugural Concacaf W Futsal Championship earlier this year in Guatemala City. Competing in their first-ever international tournament, the newly formed Canadian squad posted four wins in five matches, capturing the continental title and securing their ticket to the global stage.
Alongside the championship title, Canada was recognized with the Fair Play Award. Léa Palacio-Tellier was named Best Goalkeeper, while Esther Brossard earned both the Top Scorer and Best Player honours after leading the tournament with eight goals.
The FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup Philippines 2025™ marks the first time that women’s futsal will be showcased on the global stage. Canada will now continue its preparations for the historic competition, where 16 nations will compete to lift the inaugural trophy.
