CANW20 drawn in Group B at FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026™

Canada learns group-stage opponents for Poland 2026

Canada Soccer’s Women’s U-20 National Team (CANW20) will face Brazil, England and Tanzania in Group B at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Poland 2026™, following the official tournament draw.

The tournament will take place from 5–27 September 2026 across four host cities in Poland: Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Łódź and Sosnowiec. A total of 24 nations from all six confederations will compete at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, with Canada occupying one of Concacaf’s four allocated spots.

“It’s exciting to finally know our path heading into Poland 2026. This is exactly the kind of group you want at a World Cup. Every match will demand something different from us and that’s a great challenge for this team. We have a group of players that believes in itself, has grown together through this cycle, and earned the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the world. Now the focus is on continuing our preparation over the coming months.”

- Cindy Tye, Canada Soccer Women’s U-20 National Team Head Coach

CANW20 secured qualification for Poland 2026 after reaching the semi-finals of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship in June. Canada later lifted the regional title with a dramatic extra-time victory over Mexico in the Final, securing the nation’s third Concacaf Women’s U-20 Championship title and first since 2008.

Poland 2026 will mark Canada’s 10th appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Canada’s best finish came at the inaugural tournament in 2002, when they won silver on home soil.

Most recently, CANW20 competed at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024™, where Canada advanced to the Round of 16 after finishing second in Group B against France, Fiji and Brazil. Canada’s tournament run came to an end following a narrow 2-1 defeat to Spain in the knockout stage.
