CANM20 Qualify for 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup
Canada defeat Jamaica in 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship quarterfinals to secure first World Cup berth since 2007
Canada Soccer's Men's U-20 National Team has qualified for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup™ in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, defeating Jamaica 3:1 in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship on Wednesday at Estadio Cuauhtémoc.
The result marks Canada's first appearance at the U-20 World Cup since 2007, when it qualified automatically as tournament hosts. It will be the program's ninth appearance overall, with eight place being their best-ever finish in 2003.
Liam Mackenzie put Canada in front in the 57th minute, but Jamaica's Jahmarie Nolan converted a penalty in the 87th minute to send the match to extra time. Mackenzie gave Canada the lead from the penalty spot in the 94th minute and Max Vogele scored a spectacular goal to seal the result for Canada in the 116th minute.
At the Championship, Canada topped Group C on goal difference after a 3:0 win over Panama, a 1:1 draw with Honduras and a 2:2 draw with Jamaica.
Canada advances to the semifinals, set for Friday, 7 August at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, against the tournament hosts Mexico. The highest-finishing Concacaf nation outside the United States, which has already qualified as Olympic host, will claim the region's second berth at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
