Canada’s women’s national team will face Norway in an international friendly match this Thursday 3 June in Hamar, Norway. The international match pits Canada against the one-time FIFA Women’s World Cup and one-time Olympic champion Norway, currently ranked sixth on the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking.

The two teams will meet for an 18.00 local kick off at Fart Stadium in Hamar. Back home in Canada, fans can follow the match via twitter.com/CanadaSoccerEN starting at 12.00 ET / 09.00 PT.

The Canadian team has been training in Norway this week under the watchful eye of head coach Carolina Morace. The Norway camp follows a USA camp in the Washington, DC area.

This will be Canada’s 10th match against Norway, although Canada will play without experienced Women’s Professional Soccer stars Christine Sinclair, Candace Chapman and Erin McLeod. Canada has posted one draw and eight losses against Norway, including three defeats at three separate FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, is currently preparing for the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup. That confederation championship will serve as the qualification route for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011. Since 1995, Canada has qualified for four straight FIFA Women’s World Cups.
