Canadian Soccer Association announces recent appointments to Board of Directors and Standing Committees

The Canadian Soccer Association Board of Directors met on 26 June to confirm appointments to its Standing Committees. In addition, it named Brian Burden to a Director position.

The Canadian Soccer Association Board of Directors met on 26 June 2012 to confirm appointments to its Standing Committees. In addition, it named Brian Burden to the Director position left vacant following Steven Reed’s election as Vice-President.

Brian Burden is a former senior corporate executive with a strong experience in finance, strategy, corporate development and risk management. Accredited from the Institute of Corporate Directors, he has held a Chief Financial Officer position in various fast moving consumer goods and energy companies for over 20 years. Mr. Burden joins the Association’s Board of Directors on a one-year term.

The Board of Directors also approved the composition of its Standing Committees.

The Audit and Finance Committee, chaired by Steven Reed, is formed of Ugo Di Federico, Nick Bontis, Brian Burden and Ken MacLean.

The members of Governance Committee, chaired by Don Story, are Charlie Cuzzetto, Les Sinnott, Martial Prud’homme, Dan Tomlinson, and Wendy Bedingfield.

Chaired by Ken MacLean, the Risk Management Committee is composed of Jeannette Kuc, Gerald MacDonald, Derryn Donaghey and Karen O’Neill.

The International Committee members are Chair Charlie Cuzzetto, Steven Reed, Dino Madonis, and Earl Cochrane.

The Chairs of the Operational Committees are: Tony Fonseca, Technical Committee; Tony Camacho, Referees’ Committee; Dr. Andrew Pipe, Sport Medicine Committee; Joe Guest, Professional Soccer Committee; Judi Kelloway, Competitions Committee; and Janine Helland, Women’s Soccer Committee.

Appointments to the Association’s Operational Committees are expected to be confirmed later this summer.
