OTTAWA – This Saturday, October 16, the Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency (CFPSA) will celebrate the athletic achievement of CF members at the 16th Annual CF Sports Awards Ceremony. Themed Unsung Heroes – The Heart of CF Sports, this event honours athletes, coaches and officials in 10 categories.

Sonia Denoncourt, the first female international Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) referee who was recently appointed as one of only 25 FIFA Instructors, will be the guest speaker. Ms. Denoncourt has a passion for soccer and has left her mark in the history books, refereeing men’s professional games in Brazil, El Salvador, USA and Canada. Although recently retired after 27 years, Ms. Denoncourt is currently a Referee Development Coordinator with The Canadian Soccer Association.

The CF National Sports Program, co-ordinated by CFPSA, promotes fitness and good health as a part of the CF’s mandate of operational readiness. The program encourages participants to raise their fitness level while developing esprit de corps, pride and self-esteem through team and individual sports.
