Canada’s women’s national team has welcomed the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and Société Radio-Canada to Italy this week to prepare content for this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011(tm). CBC/SRC is the official broadcaster for Germany 2011, with television and online broadcasts available via CBC, SRC, Rogers Sportsnet, CBCSports.ca, and Radio-Canada.ca.

CBC and SRC have produced a series of player interviews that will be featured during the broadcasts this summer. Player interviews were conducted in Canada, USA and now Italy.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011(tm) runs this 26 June to 17 July. Canada opens the tournament against host Germany in Berlin before facing France in Bochum and then Nigeria in Dresden.

Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, will be participating in its fifth FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer. Just last November, Canada won its second confederation championship when it won the 2010 CONCACAF Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Cancún, Mexico. Beyond Germany 2011, Canada will participate in a sixth FIFA Women’s World Cup when Canada hosts the event in 2015.
