Canada’s men’s national team will play Venezuela in a friendly international match on Friday 1 June in Maracaibo. The two teams will kick off their first international meeting at 19.30 at the Estadio José Pachencho Romero, one of the sites for the upcoming Copa América Venezuela 2007.

Canada will use the match as a tune-up for next week’s opening round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States. Canada’s roster for the one-game international fixture is the same as it is for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The match will be broadcast on Rogers Sportsnet’s four digital channels on Saturday morning. The presentations are (all times local) 10.00 Sportsnet East and Sportsnet Ontario, 8.00 Sportsnet West, and 7.00 Sportsnet Pacific. The broadcast will be hosted by Gerry Dobson and Craig Forrest. Rogers Sporsnet will also cover Canada’s CONCACAF Gold Cup matches, including opening-round matches against Costa Rica (6 June), Guadeloupe (9 June) and Haiti (11 June).

This will Canada’s second international friendly of the 2007 season. Canada won their first game 3:0 against Bermuda on 25 March.
