Canada to take on Japan in March friendly

Canada will take on Japan in a Men’s International Friendly on 22 March (kick-off time TBD) at the Khalifa Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

The friendly will be Canada’s third match of the 2013 season following a pair of January fixtures against Denmark (26 January, Tucson, AZ) and USA (29 January, Houston, TX).

The Canadians last squared off against Japan at the FIFA Confederations Cup Japan / Korea 2001. Japan scored three second-half goals to win the 31 May, 2001 match 3:0 in front of a crowd of 39,006 at the Niigata Stadium in Niigata, Japan.

The match will be part of Canada’s continued preparations for the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup to be hosted in USA from 7-28 July.
