Canada to face Armenia in February friendly

Canada has announced it will face Armenia in an away Men’s International Friendly match in Cyprus on 29 February.

As this FIFA International Date provides just a short 72-hour window, head coach Hart expects to rely heavily on European-based players for the match in Europe. Some players may also not be available due to their in-season or off-season training schedules via club commitments.

Armenia recently posted five wins, two draws and three losses in Euro 2012 Qualifying, just falling short of a place in the final competition scheduled for later this year.

“Armenia had a very good run before the team was eliminated.” said Head Coach Stephen Hart.

Canada is in preparation for CONCACAF Round 3 of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers Brazil. Last year in CONCACAF Round 2, Canada advanced after posting an unbeaten record of four wins and two draws. Canada’s 2012 opponents from June to September are Cuba, Honduras and Panama. The top-two teams from the four-team group will advance to the CONCACAF Final Round in 2013.
