Canada Soccer’s Men’s U-20 National Team Announce Squad for Two International Friendlies in Costa Rica

#CANM20 gather in preparation of Concacaf U-20 Qualifiers in February

Canada Soccer has announced a 23-player squad for two international friendlies in Costa Rica this December. CANM20 will face Costa Rica on 18 and 21 December at FCRF-Plycem Complex in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

Canada Soccer is currently preparing the 2007 age group for the upcoming 2026 Concacaf U-20 qualifiers in February, which will serve as qualification for the Concacaf U-20 Championship. This tournament will determine Concacaf's entrants for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan, as well as the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Canada have been drawn in Group F for the 2026 Concacaf U-20 qualifiers alongside Nicaragua, Aruba, Martinique, US Virgin Islands taking place 24 February - 4 March in Managua, Nicaragua. Group winners will advance to the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship, joining the six top-ranked nations that are pre-qualified directly to the tournament.

"Costa Rica offers exactly the kind of preparation we need before heading into Nicaragua in February for qualifiers. It’s a great time to immerse the 2008s into the group after their run at the U-17 FIFA World Cup. We're looking forward to two excellent games before a big year in 2026." – Andrew Olivieri, Canada Soccer’s Men’s Youth Excel Director
