In response to the ongoing global Covid-19 pandemic and the impact of the Omicron variant, Canada Soccer have canceled the upcoming pre-competition Men’s National Team camp in Florida that was scheduled for early January in preparation for FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The cancelation includes the scheduled training match against Guatemala as well as a Men’s U-20 National Team training camp that was planned alongside the Men’s National Team camp in Florida.

The pre-competition camp had been scheduled outside the FIFA international window to support preparations for out-of-season players ahead of the official January/February 2022 window including those from Major League Soccer clubs ahead of their 2022 pre-season camps.

Canada Soccer will continue to closely monitor all Covid-19 developments in consultation with the Public Health Agency of Canada and relevant governing bodies through the Canada Soccer Sport Medicine Committee to ensure the safety of all players and staff.

Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team have six matches remaining in the Concacaf Final Round of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, with the next three matches to take place in the 10-day FIFA international window from 24 January through 2 February 2022. The first of those three matches will take place on 27 January 2022 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras followed by a home match on 30 January in Hamilton, Ontario, and then an away match in San Salvador on 2 February.
