    "body": "<p>Canada Soccer&rsquo;s Futsal National Team Head Coach Kyt Selaidopoulos has named a 14-player roster ahead of the start of the 2021 Concacaf Futsal Championship taking place from 3-9 May 2021 in Guatemala City. The top four teams from the thirteen-team Concacaf Futsal Championship, that was postponed from 2020 due to the global coronavirus pandemic, will advance to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Lithuania 2021. Canada has been drawn into Group C with reigning Concacaf Champions Costa Rica and Haiti. Canada finished within a single point of advancing at the 2016 Concacaf Fustal Championship.</p><p>&ldquo;We have a committed group of players that have been focused<br>\u200bon this opportunity to wear the red and white and represent their country with<br>\u200bthe goal of qualifying for Lithuania,&rdquo; said Selaidopoulos. &ldquo;Despite the<br>\u200bchallenges of the pandemic, the players have committed to their training, to<br>\u200bstaying connected with the group, and to leaving it all on the floor in<br>\u200bGuatemala.&rdquo;</p><p>Canada Soccer&rsquo;s Futsal National Team last played in a two-match away series against Costa Rica in which they defeated the perennial Concacaf powerhouse 2:1 in the opening match on a first half goal from 2017 Canadian Futsal Player of the Year Nazim Belguendouz and a second half winner from 2020 Canadian Futsal Player of the Year Mo Farsi and drew the second match 2:2 behind a pair of high-pressure own goals from Costa Rica.</p><p><strong>Canada Soccer&rsquo;s Futsal National Team</strong><br>\u200bFutsal is a unique, fast-paced indoor sport played across Canada and around the world. Canada Soccer is committed to the growth and promotion of the game. At the elite club level, Canada Soccer supports domestic competition through the annual Canada Soccer Futsal Canadian Championship.
