Canada Soccer holds national pre-season camp for referees

Canada Soccer held its national pre-season camp for referees in Ottawa, ON from 14-16 February.

On-field and theoretical sessions were led by FIFA Futuro Instructors John Nielsen, Amato De Luca, Isaac Raymond, Carman King and Canada Soccer Head of Refereeing Tiger Liu.

Also in attendance were Chair of Canada Soccer’s Referee Committee Tony Camacho, Committee Member Bedik Charchafian and Alan Brown representing PRO.

An awards banquet was held Saturday night to highlight officials who attended FIFA and CONCACAF events in 2013: Dave Gantar and Philippe Brière for the 2013 CONCACAF U-20 Championships; Dave Gantar, Philippe Briere and Joe Fletcher for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2013; Marie-Soleil Beaudoin for the 2013 CONCACAF U-15 Championships; Sheena Dickson for the 2013 CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championships; and Joe Fletcher for the FIFA Club World Cup Morocco 2013.

Awards were also given to Carol Anne Chénard, Marie-Josée Charbonneau and Suzanne Morisset for the 2013 Algarve Cup Final. A special award was also presented to Silviu Petrescu who retired from the FIFA list at the end of 2013.

Three new officials were then added to the National List for 2014: Alexis Vaughan (ON), Peter Pendli (ON) and Chris Wattam (BC).
