Canada Soccer Disciplinary Committe rules on Canadian Championship QR2 allegations of racial comments
Canada Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee has announced its decision related to the allegations of racial comments made at the completion of opening leg of the Canadian Championship Qualifying Round 2 Match 5 between Forge FC and Cavalry FC held Tuesday 4 June 2019 at Tim Horton Field, Hamilton, ON.
Mr P Reynders has been charged with misconduct for breaching Canada Soccer’s Code of Conduct and Ethics whereby he allegedly made a discriminatory verbal statement that escaped the attention of the match officials. The Disciplinary Committee finds Mr P Reynders guilty of misconduct and have suspended him for forty five (45) days from soccer and all soccer related activities.
The Disciplinary Committee reaffirms that there is a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of discrimination within the game. Given the serious nature of this issue, the Disciplinary Committee will also comply with all FIFA Disciplinary requirements applicable to this decision, inclusive of the reporting requirements under Article 66(1) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
