Canada Soccer confirms change to Jubilee Trophy lineup

Canada Soccer has approved the return of Saskatchewan Soccer to the National Championships Jubilee Trophy competition for the 2026 season. It will mark the first time since 2018 that a Saskatchewan representative has qualified for the women’s amateur championship.
Saskatchewan’s return to the women’s amateur championship was approved by the Competitions Committee on Thursday 28 May after the withdrawal of Nova Scotia from Group A. Saskatchewan’s representative will be determined by 16 August through the Sask Cup provincial championship.
Positioned in Group A, the Saskatchewan provincial winner will open the National Championships against the provincial winner from Newfoundland and Labrador on Thursday 8 October. The five-day, nine-team competition runs 8-12 October in Ottawa, Ontario.
Canada Soccer’s National Championships are hosted each October across multiple divisions and venues, with the 2026 U-17 Cup hosted in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador and the U-15 Cup hosted in Surrey, British Columbia. This marks the first time that both the men’s and women’s adult divisions will be hosted in the nation’s capital of Ottawa with the two Canadian Finals to be played on Thanksgiving Monday 12 October.
Both the men’s and women’s adult divisions will feature a new, nine-team format in 2026. Each division will feature three groups of three teams with group matches played from 8-10 October. Teams that win their group in October will win a National Championships medal: the best group winner (via tie-breaking criteria) will advance to the Monday Canadian Final while the second- and third-best group winners will face each other in a Sunday playoff match for the right to play on Thanksgiving Monday.
As Canada’s most accessible sport, soccer welcomes more than 750,000 registered players across the nation. Featuring clubs from coast to coast to coast, the National Championships provide a meaningful week-long soccer experience for host cities and participating teams, as well as the players, coaches, support staff, officials, and volunteers.
