Canada Soccer announces exciting new Technical Leadership Diploma

2026 Canada Soccer Technical Leadership Diploma

Canada Soccer is pleased to announce the first open pilot, English delivery, of the new Canada Soccer Technical Leadership Diploma. Based around the pillars of Leadership of Self and Others, Understanding the Canadian Sport and Soccer System, Organizational Development and Business Operations, Technical Development and Planning, and Program Delivery, the Technical Leadership Diploma is designed to develop the competencies required to lead the technical elements of an amateur youth club in Canada.

“The role of the modern technical leader has evolved beyond coaching players and teams toward complex organizational leadership. Traditional coaching courses support the development of technical knowledge, but don’t focus on the core skills of the technical leader, like human resource management, budgeting, program development and oversight, and coach education and development. The Technical Leadership Diploma is designed to equip technical leaders with the skills required to succeed in this essential role.”

- Dave Nutt, Director of Development

A targeted pilot of the Canada Soccer Technical Leadership Diploma took place in 2025, and the inaugural French delivery is being planned to begin in fall 2026 with additional information to follow.
