Canada Soccer has announced that 40 League1 Ontario Women’s
\u200bplayers will be trained in a unique female-led Canada Soccer C Licence course.
\u200bFour female Canada Soccer Coach Developers will be assigned to provide the 40
\u200bplayers with their first coaching qualification. Each player will conduct the
\u200btraining online-only, in respect of COVID-19 restrictions, along with Respect
\u200bin Sport – Activity Leader, Make Ethical Decisions, and Making Headway modules
\u200bto meet the Soccer Safe Sport requirements for the Canada Soccer Coach
\u200bEducation Licence Program.
“We are pleased to have the opportunity to provide these young
\u200bfemale players and leaders with their first Canada Soccer Coach Educations
\u200bProgram training to support the continued efforts that we have been making to
\u200bencourage more females in coaching roles in the game,” said Jason deVos, Canada
\u200bSoccer’s Director of Development. “Developing the future female leaders of the
\u200bgame in our own backyard is a vital step toward continuing Canada Soccer’s
\u200blegacy at the leading edge of women’s football that stretches all the way back
\u200bto formation of the Women’s National Team program in 1986.”
The Canada Soccer C Licence is the first step on the Coach
\u200bEducation Licence Program pathway and prepares the coach to progress to the
\u200bDevelopment Stream (Children), Development Stream (Youth) or Performance Stream
\u200b(Senior). The C Licence involves the facilitation of learning opportunities for
\u200bthe coach to develop an understanding of the coaching process.
Canada Soccer Coach Education Licence Program licences have
