Canada Soccer and Meta Launch New Player-Led Content Initiative Ahead of FIFA World Cup 2026™
Collaboration will bring fans inside the Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team experience and new digital channels added

Canada Soccer and Meta today announced a new digital content collaboration that will deliver original, social-first player POV content on the road to the FIFA World Cup 2026™ and the tournament itself.
The initiative will provide supporters with a unique perspective on CANMNT through content captured by players using Oakley Meta glasses, offering authentic moments from travel, training and team life away from the pitch.
As part of the collaboration, Canada Soccer will also expand its presence across Meta platforms with the launch of a new WhatsApp Channel and enhanced content on Threads, creating new ways for fans to follow the team throughout the summer of 2026.
"Fans want more than just highlights, they want to experience the personalities, moments and stories that bring a team together. This collaboration with Meta will help us share the FIFA World Cup journey in a way that is immediate, personal and built for how fans consume content today."
-Paulo Senra, Chief Communications and Content Officer at Canada Soccer
The content will feature multiple members of the Canadian Men’s National Team and will roll out in the lead-up to FIFA World Cup 2026™ and throughout the tournament.
“This summer's tournament coming to Canada is a once-in-a-generation moment, and we want to help fans experience it through the eyes of the players who are living it. With Oakley Meta glasses, we are enabling a new kind of storytelling: first-person, hands-free and authentically in the moment. Combined with real-time updates for fans on WhatsApp and community-driven conversation on Threads, this partnership gives Canadian supporters more ways to connect with their national team than ever before.”
-Timothee Deschamps, Soccer Partnerships Lead at Meta
The program will also include educational workshops and support opportunities for the Men’s and Women’s National Team players focused on content creation, platform best practices and audience engagement, as well as continued training and resources to help Canada Soccer players stay safe across Meta platforms.
