After a worthy day off, Canada’s Olympic team was back at training on Friday 11 April. Canada is preparing to play the United States in tomorrow’s final of the CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament. The final match kicks off at 19.30 local time at the Estadio Olímpico Benito Juarez.

The focus for Canada and the United States has changed as both teams have accomplished their goals in Cuidad Juarez, México – winning a spot at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China.

The Canadian team trained once again at the San Patricio Campus Cuidad Juarez. The school kids lined the fence of the football pitch to watch the players go through their drills. The Friday practice was the last full session before Saturday night’s game. All players were healthy and in training.

Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners, will be going for gold in the final match against the United States. It has been seven years since Canada last defeated the United States, the top-ranked program in the world. Canada recently won 1:0 over México in the 9 April semi-final to advance to the final and win a spot in this summer’s Women’s Football Olympic Tournament.
