Canada remains in first place after two women’s international soccer matches at the Torneio Internacional Cidade de São Paulo. Canada has six points with a +6 goal differential following its second win, this time a 1:0 victory over CONCACAF rival Mexico. Host Brazil is in second place also with six points, although it has a +4 goal differential following a 3:2 victory over Netherlands.
Canada, whose title sponsor is Winners and presenting sponsor is Teck, will face Brazil in the last group match on 15 December. The two sides will then meet again in the tournament final on Sunday 19 December.
Christine Sinclair scored the lone goal of the Canada-Mexico match, her third in two matches. She has 12 goals in 15 international matches this season.
The Torneio Internacional Cidade de São Paulo resumes this Wednesday 15 December at the Estádio do Pacaembu. On Match Day Three, Canada will face Brazil while Mexico will face Netherlands. Mexico will also face Netherlands in a match for third place on 19 December.
